Jude said that we should remember the words which were spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They spoke about there would be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. It is these who will be who cause divisions in the body of Christ (Jude 1:17-19).
Peter said that knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days mockers, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers died, all things continued as they were from the beginning of the creation (2 Peter 3:3).
Man has lived according to their lusts from the beginning. What is a mocker according to Peter? We know that it means to treat with ridicule or contempt. We know that it means deride, which means to laugh at in scorn or contempt. We know that it means to mimic. We know that it means to imitate. We know that it means to counterfeit. It means to challenge, to defy, to delude.
When Peter said that knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days them that treat others with ridicule. There shall come in the last days them that hold us in contempt. There shall come in the last days them that laugh us to scorn. There shall come in the last days that shall mimic at being Christians, but they will not have the Spirit of God. There shall come in the last days that counterfeit Christianity, but they will not have the Spirit of God. There shall come in the last days them that imitate Christianity, but they shall not have the Spirit of God. There shall come in the last days them that challenge other's authority in Christ. There shall come in the last days them that defy the true church of God. There shall come in the last days them that delude the gospel of Christ. By putting them together, we see that this is going on now.
Jude and Paul both are saying that these people who do these things are claiming to be Christians but they follow their own desires and not Christ Jesus. They claim to be apostles of the Lord, but they are not. They claim to be Christians but they are not. They only seek to fulfill their own lust for authority, and not put themselves under authority of God. They call Jesus Lord but they do not do the will of the Father. They are full of self-righteousness and not the righteousness of God. They have the spirit of Jezebel and not of the Spirit of God. They have the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees and not the righteousness that comes by faith. They are full of dead man's bones and there is no truth in them. These are the people who play the religion game, but they know not God, or Jesus Christ the Son of the living God.
Jesus said, "And this is life eternal, that they might know you (God the Father) the only true God, and Jesus Christ (The Son of the living God), whom you sent. Paul said that God is faithful, by whom we were invited to have a relationship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. This is the only way we can have a relationship with God our Father. It is God's will for us to have an intimate and personal love relationship with Him. If we say we have not sinned we deceive ourselves.
If you have been drawn to God by His True Holy Spirit and want to become a True and Faithful Christian, what should you do? The inspired answer was given by the Apostle Peter on the first New Testament day of Pentecost.
After coming to realize the enormity of their sins, the repentant Jews asked Peter and the rest of the Apostles: "‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?’ Then Peter said to them, ‘REPENT, and let every one of you be BAPTIZED in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call’" (Acts 2:37–39).
